2019 Stage 3 Leadership Day
Year 4 and 5 students took part in the 2019 Stage 3 Leadership Day. Students worked in teams to problem solve through a range of tasks with a focus on the skills needed to be active leaders at St Nicholas in 2019. The day consisted of a range of fun activities where students focused on the skills of communicating, teamwork and problem solving. A great experience and we look forward to our 2019 Stage 3 students leading the school to be safe, respectful learners.

ππ𧑠Term 3 Learning Highlights ππ𧑠Year 1 learning highlights in Term 3 included some English, History and Science. In History and English, Year 1 combined their reading and writing using the text 'My Place' by Nadia Wheatley. They completed a project where they needed to draft, edit and publish their own version of my place for their context. In Science, they also enjoyed designing and creating rockets out of recycled materials for their 'Earth and Space' unit. ππ𧑠Term 3 Learning Highlights ππ𧑠Kindergarten worked hard in Science in Term 3 completing a Design and Make where they were challenged to create a toy out of recycled materials. The students not only focused on the Science, but developed their problem solving and creativity by being challenged and persisting through problems. We can not wait to see the amazing learning of Kindergarten in Term 4!

Years 5 & 6 (2026): Eligible to nominate for all sports when they open. Year 4 (2026): Eligible to nominate for Basketball, Hockey, Softball, Tennis & Touch Football only. Eligibility & Requirements β Trials are for students who can demonstrate: - Above average ability - High level of skill development - Representative playing experience (for some sports) - Regular competition experience outside of school (preferred) β To be eligible: The 2026 CSPD Primary Sport TEAM Registration Form must be completed. βοΈ Sacrament of Reconciliation Celebration βοΈ We joyfully celebrate with the 12 students from St Nicholas who recently received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Tuesday night. This special occasion was made even more meaningful by the presence of 7 priests from the diocese, who gathered to celebrate the liturgy and support these young people on their faith journey. It was a beautiful witness to see so many friends and family members in attendance, offering their love and encouragement. Moments like these remind us of the strength and unity of our faith community. Please continue to keep these students in your prayers as they grow in their relationship with God.

π π Stage 3 Novel Study Showcase π π Stage 3 presented their novel study to the school community today with great pride! Throughout the term, students selected a novel of their choice and created a portfolio of work, which was on display during todayβs showcase. All classes had the opportunity to visit, interact with Stage 3 students, and learn about their reading journeys. Some lucky visitors even won bookmarks and games created by the students themselves! It was heartwarming to see so many parents and carers join us. Many students' faces lit up with joy upon seeing their loved ones taking interest in their work. Thank you to everyone who came and supported our learners β your presence made the day even more special.

Today we welcomed St Finbarβs and St Matthewβs for the third year of the Simmons Collective Challenge! Stage 2 and 3 students from all schools participated in three exciting and engaging challenges throughout the day. First, students worked in teams to build the tallest tower they could using only marshmallows and pasta. Next, they tackled a series of challenging quiz questions that tested their teamwork and critical thinking skills. Finally, they used Indi cars to navigate creative pathways based on challenge cards β a fun and tech-inspired way to wrap up the day! All students showed fantastic resilience, collaboration, and school spirit. Congratulations to St Finbarβs, who were the overall winners this year!
