🎖 Visit from Olympian Nicholas Timmons 🎖 The St Nicholas of Myra Stage 2 and 3 students were lucky enough to have a visit from Australian Olympic Team Winter Olympian Nicholas Timmons as part of the #OlympicsUnleashed program. Nicholas participates in the sport Skeleton. Skeleton is a winter sliding sport in which a person rides a small sled, known as a skeleton bobsled, down a frozen track while lying face down and head-first while reaching speeds up to 140km/h. Nicholas talked about his experiences in his sporting life, only beginning his sport at 21 years of age. He outlined the choices he made in order to compete at the top level of his sport, including missing summer for the past 12 years. He also discussed how he was able to bounce back from narrowly missing the 2018 Olympics and qualify for the 2022 Beijing games. Some great learning for the students about trying new things, being disciplined, being able to bounce back from setbacks and most importantly, making positive choices in order to succeed.

🏆 Student Success 🏆 Congratulations to Lachlan in Year 6 who recently competed at the 2024 Diocesan Athletics Carnival. Lachlan competed in the 200m, making the final & the long jump where he finished third. Lachlan will now compete at the 2024 MacKillop State Athletics Carnival in long jump. Well done Lachlan.

💭 🔬Simmons Collective 💭🔬 St Nicholas of Myra Stage 2 and 3 students were joined by students from St Matthew’s Windsor and St Finbar’s Glenbrook for our annual Simmons Collective challenge day. Students completed a range of STEM activities and coding to compete against students from other schools. Well done to all involved. Special mention to Olivia and Vivien who were awarded Stage 2 champions 🥇👏
