2018 Christmas Celebration Concert
On December 6, the feast day of St Nicholas of Myra, over 700 people from our school community gathered for the 2018 Christmas Celebration Concert. This wonderful event included a free barbecue, our annual Christmas raffle and our talented students acting out and singing the Christmas story. The students are to be commended on their amazing costumes, reverent acting and beautiful singing. We even had a surprise visit from the North Pole with Santa and Mrs Claus stopping by to share gifts with the children.
A big thank you to the teachers and parents who assisted before, during after the celebration. An extra thank you to Mike and Outback Steakhouse Penrith for their donation and cooking the barbecue and to Miss Reece for her hours of preparation and rehearsal of the students to make this event one to remember. A wonderful event for a wonderful community.

π Motherβs Day Morning Tea π A lovely morning was shared with the St Nicholas of Myra community as we celebrated all the wonderful women in our lives with a special Motherβs Day Morning Tea. π Motherβs Day Mass π Today, St Nicholas of Myra students gathered in the St Nicholas of Myra Church to celebrate and give thanks for all the mothers, grandmothers, nannas, nanas, grans, grandmas, omaβs, yiayias and the special women in our lives. During the Mass, Father Joe reminded students that God gifted us our mothers from the very moment of our birth, blessing us with people who nurture, guide and love us unconditionally. Students also reflected on Mary, the Mother of God, and the beautiful example she gives us through her faith, kindness, courage and love. Just as Mary cared for Jesus, we give thanks for the many women in our lives who care for and support us each day. We thank all of the wonderful women in our school community and wish them a very happy Motherβs Day.

St Nicholas of Myra held our annual Motherβs Day Stall, giving students the opportunity to choose a special gift for the amazing mother figures in their lives. Whether they are Mum, Step-mum, Nan, Grandma, Nanna, Nonna, Oma, Yiayia, Abuela or another special person who fills their lives with love and care. The excitement and thoughtfulness shown by the students made for a wonderful morning filled with smiles and surprises. A huge THANK YOU to our incredible parent helpers who generously gave their time to help wrap gifts and run the stall. Lifted Jnr Today at Lifted Jnr, our Stage 3 students gathered with 40 other primary schools for a powerful time of listening, prayer, dancing, and singing as we explored the meaning of Pentecost. Together, we reflected on the fruits and gifts of the Spirit and what it means to live with purpose. It was inspiring to see students engage so openly and joyfully, thinking deeply about how they can bring these gifts back into our school community through kindness, courage, service, and love.

πβ¨ Stage 2 Science Incursion β¨π What better day to explore the wonders of Space than May 4thβ¦ May the Fourth be with you! πβ Our Stage 2 students at St Nicholas of Myra had an incredible day of hands-on Science learning, diving into all things Space as part of their incursion. We were thrilled to welcome Jackie from One Giant Leap Australia Foundation, who inspired students to dream big and explore future pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). π€π¬ A definite highlight of the day was the robot dog, who quickly became a crowd favourite as it followed Miss Reynolds and made its way around each classroom! πβπ¦Ίπ‘ In the afternoon, students were amazed by a visit from the Planetarium, stepping inside the dome to experience the Solar System in stunning detail. It truly felt like travelling through space! ππͺ To make the day even more special, students and staff embraced the theme by dressing up in their best space-inspired outfits ππ©βππ½ A fantastic day filled with curiosity, excitement, and learning as we continue to inspire our future scientists! π

π π Kindergarten Excursion β Sydney Zoo π¦π¦ Kindergarten students from St Nicholas of Myra enjoyed their very first excursion to Sydney Zoo. Throughout the day, students explored the zoo, learning about a wide variety of animals and their natural environments. In addition to their wildlife experiences, students deepened their understanding of Indigenous Australian culture, exploring connections to the land and examining cultural artefacts. It was a wonderful day filled with friendship, discovery and meaningful learning for our Kindergarten students.
