2019 Stage 3 Leadership Day
Year 4 and 5 students took part in the 2019 Stage 3 Leadership Day. Students worked in teams to problem solve through a range of tasks with a focus on the skills needed to be active leaders at St Nicholas in 2019. The day consisted of a range of fun activities where students focused on the skills of communicating, teamwork and problem solving. A great experience and we look forward to our 2019 Stage 3 students leading the school to be safe, respectful learners.

๐ Welcome Back to Term 3! ๐ There were plenty of smiles across St Nicholas of Myra as our students returned for the start of Term 3! After a well earned holiday break, it was wonderful to see friends reconnecting, classrooms buzzing with excitement, and our school community coming back together. The joy of catching up, sharing holiday stories, and welcoming one another reminded us that the friendships we build at St Nicholas are a special part of school life. ๐ค๐โค๏ธ Yesterday, our school community gathered for a special NAIDOC Week liturgy, where we reflected on the rich cultures, histories and enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ๐ฃ As part of our celebration, students created footprints to remind us of the journey of First Nations peoples. These footprints also symbolise that each of us has a role to play in walking together with respect, understanding and hope. The footprints formed a circle where students sat during the liturgy, representing that everyone is welcome, everyone is equal, and everyone belongs. As we gathered together, we were reminded to listen with kind hearts โค๏ธ, learn from one another ๐, and continue our shared journey of reconciliation ๐ค.

Today, our Stage 2 students gathered for an engaging Zoom session with the Museum of Australian Democracy (MOAD) in Canberra, joining students from schools across Australia for a special NAIDOC Week presentation. We had the privilege of listening to author Corey Tutt read his new book, Come Home, Bigibila, and share the inspiration and meaning behind the story. Our students were thrilled when Corey answered one of the questions they had submitted in the interactive question and answer chat. Corey also spoke about the significance of NAIDOC Week and encouraging everyone to always show kindness and respect to others. It was a wonderful learning experience, and our students thoroughly enjoyed being part of this special event. โค๏ธ๐ค๐

๐ Student Success ๐ A huge congratulations to Malakai, who has been selected in the 2026 MacKillop Rugby Union Team to compete at the 2026 PSSA Rugby Union Carnival in Mudgee this August.
