In Term 4, Stage 2 is lucky enough to be working with a professional author in Term 4 once a week with the company WestWords
The project will be running for the first 5 weeks of the term and has already started off with a bang! The students are working hard on the way they craft stories, different features of texts, and getting feedback from a professional author. In the weeks to come, they will also have an opportunity to be working alongside a professional Illustrator. We look forward to seeing the student’s creative writing develop and to the students’ turning into authors.

πββοΈ Cross Country Carnival β Save the Date! πββοΈ The St Nicholas of Myra Cross Country Carnival will be held on Thursday 5th March at St Nicholas of Myra Catholic Primary School. This event provides students aged 8β12 with the opportunity to qualify for the 2026 CSPD Diocesan Cross Country Carnival. To be eligible, students must: βοΈ Finish in the top 6 of their age group (8-10 years, 11 years, 12 years) βοΈ Achieve the qualifying time βοΈ Not walk at any stage during the race β° Race Times β’ 9:15am (approx.) β Boys 8β10 years (2km) β’ 9:40am (approx.) β Girls 8β10 years (2km) β’ 10:00am (approx.) β 11β12 years (3km) Our Infants students (5β7 years) will participate in a fun run throughout the day. The course will follow a 250m circuit around the school grounds, including the front footpath. We look forward to a fantastic day of participation, perseverance and school spirit! π

π Outstanding Achievement! π On Friday, Rome from Year 6 proudly represented the Parramatta Diocese at the 2026 MacKillop Basketball Trials. He not only showcased his impressive skills on the court, but also demonstrated outstanding commitment, teamwork and courage throughout the day. Today we welcomed our local Catholic high schools to visit our Stage 3 students, sharing what they have to offer as our learners begin to look ahead to the next stage of their educational journey. It was wonderful to reconnect with former St Nicholas of Myra students and see how they are thriving in their high school years. It was a beautiful reminder of the strong relationships formed in our community. πββοΈ Nepean Zone Swimming Carnival 2026 πββοΈ St Nicholas of Myra students truly got into the swimming spirit at the 2026 Nepean Zone Swimming Carnival. Our students showcased their skills, cheered one another on and competed with outstanding effort and determination. We are so proud of the way they conducted themselves both in and out of the water, demonstrating respect, teamwork and true sportsmanship. Not 1, not 2, not 3β¦ but 12 students will now represent the Nepean Zone at the 2026 CSPD Swimming Carnival on March 4th! βοΈ Ash Wednesday β Infants Liturgy π Today our Infants students gathered for a beautiful Ash Wednesday Liturgy to mark the beginning of the Lenten season. Through prayer and reflection, students learned that Lent is a special time to grow closer to God by showing kindness, making good choices and caring for others. A special thank you to our Faith in Action Team for leading our Liturgy with such reverence and confidence. βοΈ Ash Wednesday β Primary βοΈ Today our Stage 3 students at St Nicholas of Myra attended Mass for Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season. During Lent, we strive to grow closer to God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Father Rojan reminded us that God has given us something very special, today. He also challenged us throughout this holy season: How can we do something for someone else each day of Lent? Our Infants students will hold a Liturgy at 2:30pm in the school hall.
